Forshore Apparel

The project brief required the development of a venture capital proposal for a South African start-up selling ocean-themed apparel and promoting ocean conservation. The business faced the challenge of being a relatively new and struggling start-up needing a compelling strategy to secure investment. The requirements included creating a brand identity, articulating a clear mission and vision, developing an online value proposition, and presenting a multichannel digital marketing strategy that demonstrated growth potential and adherence to circular economy principles.

The Brand

Forshore Apparel is a contemporary South African fashion label redefining sustainability through circular innovation. Unlike traditional brands that rely solely on eco-friendly materials, Forshore embraces a full circular economy model, transforming collected plastic waste and donated textiles into new, high-quality apparel. Every garment represents a cycle of renewal, linking environmental responsibility with cultural relevance.

At its core, Forshore seeks to make environmental conservation aspirational. The brand’s philosophy is captured in its slogan, “It’s cool to care,” reflecting a belief that sustainability should be effortless, stylish, and socially rewarding. By merging fashion with purpose, Forshore turns climate-conscious behaviour into a lifestyle choice, appealing to consumers who want to look good while doing good.

Campaign Strategy

Forshore Rewards Initiative

This rewards-based sustainability program leverages gamification to incentivise eco-conscious behaviours, turning environmental activism into an interactive and rewarding experience. 

​

The Forshore Rewards App will utilise a QR-based tracking system, allowing customers to earn points based on their level of involvement in clean-ups and textile donations. These points can be redeemed for exclusive discounts, free merchandise, and VIP experiences, reinforcing brand loyalty while making sustainability an engaging, community-driven effort.

End Result

First, engagement through gamification, a dynamic leaderboard and an achievement-based rewards system will keep engagement levels high and foster brand loyalty.

Second, the implementation of a circular economy will reinforce Forshore's commitment to sustainability by repurposing the collected waste into high-quality apparel. directly reducing fashion waste and marine pollution.  By promoting a closed-loop system, the initiative reduces environmental impact while offering customers tangible proof of their contributions. 

​

Lastly, community building and social motivation will be fostered through a digital leaderboard and social sharing features. Top contributors will gain access to VIP events, exclusive apparel drops, and eco-conscious travel experiences, transforming sustainability from a personal effort into a collective movement.
